MGOLF: Martin leads after Day One at Bowdoin Invitational
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Husson's Greg Martin sits a top of the leaderboard after day one of the Bowdoin Invitational, hosted by Bowdoin College, at the Brunswick Golf Club.
Martin shot a 70 on the day as the Eagles finished the day in fifth place overall with a team score of 308.
Other Eagles who scored on the day were Daulton Wickenden who sits tied for 15th with a score of 77, Phillip Thome sits tied 34th with a score of 82, Cam Clark sits 41st with a score of 84 and Devon Stewart sits 62nd with a score of 112.
Providence College leads after day one with a score of 300.
Day two of the Bowdoin Invitational will tee off bright and early Sunday, September 13 at 9:30 am at Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, Maine.

WSOC: Husson loses first match of season
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin (Maine) ended Husson's three-game unbeaten streak in a 6-1 win Sunday at Pickard Women's Soccer Field. The Polar Bears earn their first win of the season to improve to 1-1. Bowdoin handed the Eagles their first loss of the season, dropping the visitors to 2-1-1.
Jamie Hofstetter buried a loose ball from the middle of the box, sending her shot to the left post, to give Bowdoin the 1-0 lead just over 13 minutes into the game. After Husson successfully defended the initial corner kick by Bowdoin, Kiersten Turner collected the ball and fed Julia Patterson who turned on goal and sent a shot into the left corner of the net 21:37 into the first half. Turner tallied a goal of her own after heading in a cross from Sophie al Mutawaly from the left side six minutes later. Elizabeth Weathers rounded out the first half's scoring by finishing off a cross from the left end line.
Husson scored the first goal of the second half just over three minutes into action as Alison Boulier lofted a shot over the hands of Bowdoin's Rachel Stout after coming down the left side.
The Polar Bears responded with two more goals as al Mutawaly and Julia Bottone scored at 51:29 and 77:59 respectively.
Goalkeepers Jordyn Hopkins (6) and Kayla Gordon (7) totaled 13 stops for the Eagles. All three Bowdoin keepers saw time and combined for a pair of saves.
The Eagles travel to Bates (Maine) on Wednesday beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.

MGOLF: Martin wins 2015 Bowdoin Invitational
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Husson's Greg Martin took home top individual medalist honors at the Bowdoin Invitational, hosted by Bowdoin College, at the Brunswick Golf Club.
Martin shot a 75 on the day two for total score of 145 to lead the Eagles to a fifth place overall finish with a team score of 627.
Other Eagles who placed were Daulton Wickenden in 6th with a two day total score of 151 after shooting a 74 on the day, Phillip Thome shot a 80 on the day to tie for 34th with a total score of 162, Cam Clark in 41st with a total score of 169 and Devon Stewart in 80th with a total score of 220. Clark shot a 85 and Stewart a 108 on day.
Endicott won the invitational with a total score of 607.
The Eagles will look to defend their State of Maine Intercollegiate Golf Championship when they return to action on Saturday, September 19 when they travel to Fairlawn Golf & Country Club in Poland, Maine for the 2015 MEGIA Championship.

Thomas Finishes 4th at Mayflower Invitational
HENNIKER, New Hampshire - The Thomas College women's cross country team placed 4th with 124 points at the Mayflower Invitational hosted by New England College, their second event of the young 2015 season. Leading the Terriers was junior runner Amanda Cotter finishing with a time of 23:17, good for a 20th place finish.
Crystal Peatfield was the second Terriers runner to cross the finish line and placed 25th with a 24:09 time. Evelyn Swan finished 41st (26:47), Alyssa Maggi was 44th (27:15), and Marissa Gammon placed 45th with a 27:22 finish time.
New England College junior Abby Shafter won the event with an 18:59 time, 53 seconds ahead of runner-up Emily Lopez of Colby-Sawyer College. Lopez's teammate Lauren Oligny rounded out the top three, giving the Chargers the overall team victory.

HENNIKER, New Hampshire - The Terriers men's cross country squad had a strong 5th place finish, in their second race of the 2015 season, the Mayflower Invitational hosted by New England College. Junior Nick Kopf led the way once again for the Terriers, running a 17:30 time. His run placed him inside the top-10 of the 98 runner field with a 9th place finish.
First year runner Ethan Harriman followed Kopf for a 15th place finish, just 25 seconds behind with a 17:55. 50 seconds behind Harriman was Aron MacLean, placing 31st at the 18:45 mark. Finishing in 34th place with an 18:50 time was Tito Naranja, 44th was Trystan Mercier (19:25), 49th Forrest Labbe (19:51), and Sam Cook finished 51st with a time of 19:55.
Benjamin Bunnell of Colby-Sawyer College finished first with a 16:15 in a dominating performance for the Chargers, who finished 3rd overall. Finishing runner-up, 18 seconds off the leader was Jake Hastings of Fitchburg State, who was followed by Scott Shaw of New England College that rounded out the top three with a 16:36.
