With a team-high 21 kills, junior Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) reached the 20-kill mark for the third time this week, and the fourth time in her career. She added 12 digs for her second double-double this season.
Sophomore Lisa Slivken (New York, N.Y.) contributed 10 kills while first-year Claire Naughton (Darien, Conn.) posted nine kills and three blocks. Sophomore Jacqueline Forney (Bloomington, Ind.) had a team-high 26 assists to go with nine digs, while junior Hannah Tardie (Orange, Calif.) also had a double-double with 17 assists and 17 digs.
Bates scored the final three points to come back from a 15-14 deficit in the fifth and deciding set. Tardie clinched the victory with a setter's drop shot over the net, her fifth kill of the match.
Senior Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) had a match-high 30 digs, while sophomore Augy Silver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was one of four Bobcats also in double figures in digs, with 13.
Kate Giddens had match highs of 22 kills and five service aces, including seven kills and four aces in the first set, as the Bantams took a 1-0 lead. Bates schemed better against Giddens as the match wore on, blocking some attempts and getting under the ball to dig others out of harm.
Hunter Drews added 16 kills and 13 digs for the Bantams (2-4, 0-2 NESCAC). Hannah Engstrom had seven kills and a team-high 15 digs. Gina Buzzelli had a match-high 41 assists with 11 digs, and Rachel Underwood contributed 14 digs.
Following Friday night's 3-1 win over Wesleyan, the Bobcats (3-4, 2-0 NESCAC) have won back-to-back NESCAC matches for the first time since 2004. Bates had not won two conference matches in a season since 2010, and hadn't defeated Trinity since 2008.
Bates has a non-conference match at Maine Maritime on Wednesday at 7pm.
