Community book discussion group reads a collection of musings by Maine Naturalist Tom Seymour

BATH, Maine - The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) invites the public to participate in the sixth annual Winter Read, a community book discussion, and meet a local Maine author on March 16. This year's selection is Hidden World Revealed: Musings of a Maine Naturalist by Tom Seymour. A collection of short works, the book is a refreshing look at Maine’s rural landscape through the eyes of a local naturalist.

Previously published in Seymour's blog “Wild Plants and Wooly Bears,” the reader joins the author on walks through the woods to observe seasonal changes, interact with animal neighbors, and explore Maine’s splendid and varied flora. Readers gain insight into environmental cycles and relationships between plants, animals, the land, and humans. This work is a welcome and excellent invitation to get to know the Maine woodlands!

Seymour is graciously joining the public discussion event at the Neighborhood UCC community space on March 16 starting at 6pm. KELT Volunteer Jen Van Deusen will help guide the discussion as the group dives into our own observations of and experiences in the natural world. KELT also invites participants to write a short natural musing of their own! Whether it is about the nature in a backyard or a walk on a favorite local trail, share it with KELT on Facebook or during the evening event.

Please visit the Mustard Seed Bookstore in Bath or the Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick for a copy
of Hidden World Revealed to read the book before the event. This program is free and open to the public thanks to generous sponsorship from First Federal Savings Bank (www.firstfederalbath.com) and The Merrymeeting Bay Trust. The Neighborhood UCC is located at 798 Washington Street in Bath.

The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust is a membership supported organization dedicated to protecting the land, water and wildlife of the Kennebec Estuary.  It maintains nine preserves for public enjoyment and has protected 2,668+ acres of land since founding in 1989.
