Bates senior Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) led all players with 22 digs, while sophomore Augy Silver (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had 11 digs. Junior Hannah Tardie (Orange, Calif.) added 15 assists and junior NESCAC Co-Player of the Week Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) added a match-high 12 kills with two errors on 24 attempts (.417). First-year Claire Naughton (Darien, Conn.) added eight kills with two errors on 14 attempts (.429).
The first set was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but the Bobcats claimed the victory with three-straight points to take the 25-18 victory. In the second set the Bobcats put together three multi-point runs to take a 25-12 win and a 2-0 lead. The Bobcats outstretched a 11-5 lead in the third set and came away with the straight-set victory.
Maine Maritime (8-5) was led with a double-double from ECAC Rookie of the Week Tess Clark (11 kills, 12 digs). Gillian O'Neal recorded a team-best 13 digs, while adding a block, and Melissa Spaulding contributed a game-high 17 assists and eight digs.
Bates increased its attack percentage in each set, from .200 to .261 to .333.
Bates hosts Colby in a NESCAC match on Friday at 7pm.
