Colby moves to 4-2 overall heading into a league game with Trinity College on Saturday at 11 a.m. Maine-Farmington dropped its first game in falling to 4-1 and plays host to New England College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
After a slow start to the game, Colby scored three goals in a span of 6:01 to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Misha Strage (Westport, Conn.) scored her team-best seventh goal of the season at 13:14 in what turned out to be the game-winning score. Strage took a pass from Caroline Ferguson (Weston, Mass.) in open space and ripped one of the hardest shots of the night.
Restrepo made it 2-0 at 17:19 off a penalty corner. Strage took the corner and Elizabeth Zusi (Summit, N.J.) had a fine stop to set up Restrepo for a big blast.
Megan Fortier (Falmouth, Maine) tallied at 19:15 when Hutchinson found her on a pass in front. Fortier had to go to the backhand to get off the shot for her sixth goal of the season.
Hutchinson closed out the scoring at 56:23 on a hard shot from the right side of the cage.
Sarah Evans (Cohasset, Mass.) stopped two shots in the first half and Riley Whitmyer (Bentleyville, Ohio) made three saves in the final 35 minutes to share the Colby shutout. The Beavers had only five shots on goal, but made all of them count and forced keeper saves.
UMF’s Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine) played the first half and stopped two shots, while teammate Alyssa Arsenault (Winthrop, Maine) made six saves.
