WATERVILLE, Maine — Colby College’s Kim Donaldson (Colorado Springs, Colo), who helped the Mules to a 3-0 week, was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Volleyball Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
Donaldson averaged 3.20 kills per set, 1.40 blocks per set, and had a nearly 35 percent hitting percentage. She ranks second in the NESCAC in blocks per set (1.21) and is tied for first in total blocks (35). Donaldson showed her consistency in the three matches by hitting more than 31 percent in all three matches.
In the closest match of the week, University of New England won the first set and led early in the second set until Donaldson took over. With the Mules up 15-13, she had two straight kills and then a block for an 18-13 lead as the Mules won 3-1. Donaldson finished with 15 kills in the match.
Donaldson also helped Colby get off to a 2-0 start in the NESCAC for the first time since 2006, the year after the Mules went 10-0 in the league and won the NESCAC title in 2005. She had six blocks in a 3-0 win against Trinity College and had just two attack errors and hit .368 in a 3-0 victory over Wesleyan University.
