The third-ranked Ephs remain unbeaten at 5-0-0 (4-0-0 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears now stand at 2-2-0 (1-2-0 NESCAC).
How It Happened
- Bowdoin dictated the pace in the first half, holding a 4-1 edge in shots in the stanza.
- The game opened up in second period with the teams combining for 15 shots
- Williams broke through first when Thomas beat a defender on the left side and struck a low shot to the corner at 59:55.
- Bowdoin was able to rebound less than ten minutes later as first-year Julia Patterson scored her third goal of the season on a strike from the box to the top left corner at 68:48.
- Both teams had solid chances to put the game away in the final 20 minutes. Bowdoin had consecutive corner kicks with 12 minutes to go and a chance by Jamie Hofstetter sailed wide of the net.
- Williams' Hanna Kaeser made a bid with just seconds left on the clock, but Bowdoin's Bridget McCarthy made a diving stop to smother the chance and send the game to overtime.
- In overtime, Williams gained the ball in transition and Kristi Kirshe played a through-ball to Thomas, who just beat McCarthy to the ball and toed it into the back of the net at 93:19.
- McCarthy finished with three saves while Palcheck was not credited with a stop.
- Bowdoin had an 11-10 edge in shots, although just one was on goal. The Polar Bears also maintained a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
