BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin (Maine) ended Husson's three-game unbeaten streak in a 6-1 win Sunday at Pickard Women's Soccer Field. The Polar Bears earn their first win of the season to improve to 1-1. Bowdoin handed the Eagles their first loss of the season, dropping the visitors to 2-1-1.
Jamie Hofstetter buried a loose ball from the middle of the box, sending her shot to the left post, to give Bowdoin the 1-0 lead just over 13 minutes into the game. After Husson successfully defended the initial corner kick by Bowdoin, Kiersten Turner collected the ball and fed Julia Patterson who turned on goal and sent a shot into the left corner of the net 21:37 into the first half. Turner tallied a goal of her own after heading in a cross from Sophie al Mutawaly from the left side six minutes later. Elizabeth Weathers rounded out the first half's scoring by finishing off a cross from the left end line.
Husson scored the first goal of the second half just over three minutes into action as Alison Boulier lofted a shot over the hands of Bowdoin's Rachel Stout after coming down the left side.
The Polar Bears responded with two more goals as al Mutawaly and Julia Bottone scored at 51:29 and 77:59 respectively.
Goalkeepers Jordyn Hopkins (6) and Kayla Gordon (7) totaled 13 stops for the Eagles. All three Bowdoin keepers saw time and combined for a pair of saves.
The Eagles travel to Bates (Maine) on Wednesday beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
