These fun educational workshops are free to the public and materials are provided. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged as seating is limited, all participants should be accompanied by an adult.
The schedule is as follows:
Monday, Feb. 17: Paper Airplane Workshop
This perennial favorite is open to a variety of ages and skill levels. These paper airplanes range from the usual paper airplane to some exotic gliders that fly on a wave of air.
Tuesday, February 18: Cardstock Gliders
This is an advanced version of paper airplane construction using cardstock wings and balsa wood bodies to create far-flying airplanes.
Wednesday, February 19: Electric Car Workshop
Participants will each build a small electric car and then test their creations in the Museum’s spacious State of Maine wing.
Thursday, February 20: Stick and Tissue Airplanes
Using balsa sticks, tissue paper, glue and a rubber band, participants will each build a flying model airplane.
Friday, February 21: Hot Air Balloons
Build your own working hot air balloon with tissue paper and glue, then test inside the Museum using a heat gun.
While the Winter Vacation Week activities are free, admission for visitors wishing to view the museum is $12 for adults ($10 for visitors over 65). Children and youth under 18 are admitted free of charge.
