Get free admission to Maine Maritime MuseumBath, Maine - Maine Marine Museum in Bath is participating in Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day 2013, a program that provides two free admissions to any of more than 1,500 museums nationwide. This year, Museum Day is Saturday, Sept. 28.
To receive free admission on Museum Day, visitors simply download a ticket from the Smithsonian magazine website at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday. The offer is limited to two free admissions per email address. Any of the participating museums can be chosen, but visitors can choose only one museum for free admission.
Visitors choosing Museum Day tickets for Maine Maritime Museum can tour the Museum’s galleries, receive a free Percy and Small Shipyard introduction walking tour and visit all of the Museum’s exhibits, including the Victorian home of the shipbuilders Donnell family and the Grand Banks fishing schooner Sherman Zwicker.
The Museum’s very popular new exhibit, Beyond the Breakers, the story of the U.S. Coast Guard in Maine and that service’s evolution since its founding in 1777, will still be on view as well.
Lighthouse cruises and the trolley tour of Bath Iron Works are also scheduled but require additional fees. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for both as many tours sell out several days in advance.

More than 1,500 museums, including 22 in Maine from York to Bar Harbor, will participate in the one-day annual event, including museums of history, art, culture, technology and science, historic houses, botanical gardens, zoos, and children's museums.
