This is the first hiking trail the Trust has designed and constructed in the town of Brooklin. The 1.7 mile trail was constructed this summer by BHHT trail manager Ken Burgess with the help of the Trust’s volunteer crew and the Brooklin Youth Corps.
The Hundred Acre Wood trailhead is located on High Street, 1/10 mile from the "four corners" intersection with Hales Wood Road. The forest trail is available to the public because of a generous gift of land by Stephen Winthrop and M. Jane Williamson. The trail construction was funded in part by a grant from the Hancock County fund of the Maine Community Foundation.
This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. For more info, call 374-5118. More programs are listed on the BHHT website: bluehillheritagetrust.org.
The Trust currently owns or holds conservation easements on 6,293 acres of land throughout the Blue Hill Peninsula, including 18 miles of hiking trails.
